Have you ever read something that brought tears to your eyes because it was so incredibly beautiful and brought you such joy?
This past week as I was reading 1 Corinthians 15 in preparation for my women’s eGroup (aka small groups), I began to weep.
1 Corinthians 15: 42-44
42 It is the same way with the resurrection of the dead. Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever. 43 Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength. 44 They are buried as natural human bodies, but they will be raised as spiritual bodies. For just as there are natural bodies, there are also spiritual bodies.
Buried in brokenness, but raised to glory. Buried in weakness, but raised to strength.
When I look back at losing our son Alex, I don’t see a broken, weak body, although it 100% was. I see instead what he was to become: healed, strong, whole.
It brings me pure JOY to know my Little Man is whole. He has no pain, no scar from open heart surgery, no more operations, no more needle pricks, no more sadness, hunger, or fear.
Although him leaving me left me broken as his Momma, he is healed in every single way.
I wonder today what is leaving you broken.
Are you broken over a personal relationship, a dream that is lost, or a look at society that feels beyond repair? I also wonder this, do you know Jesus?
There is nothing on this earth that is going to provide for you the healing you need. Alchohol, drugs, food, sex, relationships, or even coffee (although coffee comes very close) can not provide you the replacement or complete peace your heart and soul needs. This can only come from knowing Jesus.
Is my heart completely healed from losing my son? No. I will always be brokenhearted, but I will not remain here. One day, I too will be raised to glory.
And until that glorious day comes, I will be strong and immovable. I will work for him, remembering everything I do in His name will not be wasted.
58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. 1 Corinthians 15:58
What can you do today to know Jesus? What can you do today in His name?
